S7 Guest Column: "Fairplay's Game"

Our guest columnist reviews Episode 9, of Survivor: Pearl Islands.

S7 Guest Column:

The star of the show, Rupert, has been banished from the game thanks to some scheming on behalf of Jon and outcast Burton.

Both men saw it as the perfect time in order to spring their plans on the big fella. Quite a sad day in "Survivor" history as Rupert walked out of Tribal Council and out of the game.

Rupert was under the impression that Darrah would be the next to leave seeing as how she was apart of the now defunct Morgan alliance.

Behind Rupie's back, supposed allies Jon and Burton decided to recruit fellow outcast Lil, and former Morgan's Darrah and Tijuana in order to take the big man out of the game.

Both men saw that obviously Rupert was the strongest player in the game and the one man that could beat anybody in any final two combination at the final Tribal Council.

It was a tremendous move on both men's part seeing as how Rupert really did need to go in order to benefit themselves.

Of course Darrah and Tijuana jumped at the chance to take Rupert out of the game because it renewed their lives and completely took them off the chopping block, at least for now.

Lil decided to stick with fellow outcast Burton seeing as how the new five-person alliance gives her a better final position other than just aligning with the Drakes.

Good move on her part, but the way in which she is going about it is a very bad move. The Boy Scout Troop leader is letting her emotions take over her gameplaying ability and she is not thinking strategically at all.

She should have given up her reward challenge prize in order to look good in front of her fellow castaways, yet she gleefully snapped it up, which was a very poor decision.

Lil still managed to lose her emotions when she began to regret her decision as well. She needs to keep focus and realize what she really needs to do in order to succeed
in this game.

Rupert believed he was in a great position and only had slight reservations about Burton and Jon's standing within his alliance.

Christa and Sandra were completely in Rupert's back pocket and totally out of the loop regarding the new alliance being formed.

Both ladies are going to have to scrounge around and look for any way possible to remain in the game from now on.

Well Rupert, you were certainly the star and hero of the series up until your unfortunate departure, it will not be the same without you.

Hopefully you can redeem past mistakes in the now being filmed "Survivor: All-Star" series being shot once again in Panama, which I am certain you are participating in.

Watch out next week, it looks like Jon will be giving us some more crazy antics. Rumors are swirling that he is the one behind "The Big Lie" that has been advertised.

It's no telling what Jonny Fairplay could think of next. Who's looking good: Jon and Lillian. Jon is controlling the decisions going on within the new majority alliance.

Lil is in the majority alliance, and is in no way a challenge threat, which is always good.

Who's looking bad: Christa and Burton. Burton might be in the alliance that is calling the shots, but he is still an overpowering opponent in the challenges and no one should ever trust Jon Dalton.

Christa is the strongest between herself and Sandra and she has never really been seen as a likeable person according to other contestants. Christa is my pick to go on the next episode.
