S7 Guest Column: "Let's All Get Rupert"

Our guest columnist reviews Episode 8 of Survivor: Pearl Islands.

S7 Guest Column:

That's it folks, we have now passed the obvious boot episode. Everyone knew that Ryan Opray was the odd man out.

There is always atleast one episode each season where everyone and their mother knows who is going.

Ryno just happened to be that person. In other news, it seems as if everybody has finally come to the realization that Rupert should be the man to go.

Rupert is the ultimate physical and mental threat. He supplies food at a rate that has never been seen before on "Survivor".

If Rupey made it to the final two, we could possibly see the first ever blowout in "Survivor" history, with
Rupert getting every single one of the votes.

Rupert's departure could be quite dangerous for CBS. He is unquestionably the most popular castaway this season and possibly any other season. If he leaves the game the ratings could plummet dramatically.

This could be quite unfortunate seeing as how "Survivor" has been riding high the past three weeks with consecutive ratings victories over NBC's hit show "Friends". "Survivor" hasn't had this success since season two in Australia.

If Rupert leaves, I'm certain that Jon Dalton will be the new man of the hour. Jon brings something to this game that we have never seen before: a contestant that is obnoxious, rude, and a poor sport.

Robb Zbacnik in Thailand came pretty close to this kind of behavior but not as much as the so-called Jonny Fairplay.

Even with all of these characteristics, I am still a huge fan of Jon Dalton. He is exciting to watch. I am always wondering what Jon will do next. Dalton also happens to be a pretty good strategic player.

Jon has still managed to stay in the game and be the one person that everybody comes to with a plan, despite his deplorable behavior.

Christa Hastie is slowly stumbling in the game. Last week I said she was in a good position, now however she seems to not be thinking about the future. One thing you have to be aware of in "Survivor" is how you are viewed by your peers.

If you become hated by someone, do you really think that person will give you a vote to win the game at the final tribal council? I doubt it.

Christa made the mistake of calling Tijuana and Darrah out for not working and being lazy at tribal council. These are two people that will either be in the final two or on the jury.

This was just a stupid move on Christa's part. If you have a problem with somebody, don't get in an argument with them, just vote them out of the game.

Ryno sure didn't have any kind feeling going towards Christa either, so she has already cost herself one vote if she makes it to the finals.

Well, sorry to see you go, Ryno, but it was inevitable. Who's looking good: Sandra and Jon. Sandra is still right where she needs to be.

She is in an alliance, yet she is not an easy target. Jon has put himself in the position of being the man everybody comes to with a deal. Not too shabby.

Who's looking bad: Rupert. Rupey has been a walking target since day one. He will be the next to go.

Also, in some really cool news, an "All-Star Survivor" cast list has been floating around the net. Many believe it to be correct.

Castaways believed to be taking part are: Richard Hatch, Rudy Boesch, Susan Hawk, Jenna Lewis, Tina Wesson, Colby Donaldson, Amber Brkich, Jerri Manthey, Alicia Calaway, Ethan Zohn, Lex Van Den Berge, Tom Buchanon, Kathy Vavrick-O'Brien, Rob Mariano, Shii Ann Huang, Jenna Morasca, Rob Cesternino, and the Pearl Island's own Rupert Boneham.

There are certainly some surprises and some unfortunate omissions, nonetheless, I have full confidence that Executive Producer Mark Burnett will make it an unbelievable season. My early pick is Lex.
