S8 Guest Column: "Rob Versus Rob"

Tedhighway analyzes Episode 4 of Survivor: All-Stars.

Rob Cesternino, the schemer from the Amazon, got his torch ceremoniously snuffed in a five to one vote. Rob has the reputation of being the greatest player to never win, yet he could not capitalize and endure in the game longer. We'll get to that a little later.
First off is the Mogo Mogo tribe. Richard is becoming a huge asset to his team. He is providing them with food and that is a big plus for him. I think he might be able to give himself a little more time to stay in the game, but Lex seems fixated with eliminating him.
Any other tribe, and Rich might be coasting right now, but not Mogo Mogo. Lex, Colby, and Kathy are smart players. They see what Hatch can do and I don't think they're willing to let him stay around long, especially Lex. This tribe is still remaining invisible compared to the other two.
Saboga and Chapera have given us some terrific storylines and great drama. Mogo Mogo seems to be a tight-knit unit with no major action happening. I look for things to heat up in Mogo Mogo on the next installment.
Saboga has become the Morgan tribe part 2. They always seem to have their failures and they are the definite underdogs. Rupert admitted his mistake in the reward challenge, which is a good thing, but he might be hurt by it.
After having to suffer through the stormy night with nothing at all and nowhere to sleep, Jerri, Jenna L., and Ethan, might hold it against the big man.
Right now however, the four teammates are going to have to come together and work as a unit in order to succeed. They can't afford to lose anyone else.
The immunity challenge finally brought Saboga the chance to escape tribal council. Surprisingly, Jerri led her team to victory as she called out instructions to her blindfolded teammates as they frantically searched for huge puzzle pieces.
If you'll remember, Jerri led her old tribe, Ogakor, in a similar challenge in Australia, yet she was defeated. Jerri was also the centerpiece of the puzzle construction effort after the pieces were gathered.
Mogo Mogo, once again, came in second place thanks to Rich's guidance, and Chapera was sent to tribal council for the first time.
The cocky Chapera tribe was sent scrambling as all six members tried to ensure their safety. The two Robs, Mariano and Cesternino, made a deal to stick together and vote out Alicia, but of course neither one is to be trusted.
Mariano lied to Amazon Rob as the tribe ganged up on him and sent him packing. His departure should be seen as a sign of respect, seeing as how Rob Cesternino was voted out due to his reputation in the game and his intelligence.
Rob showed more emotion as each vote with his name was read than I've ever seen from a contestant. It was easy to tell that Robasu loves the game of "Survivor", and it was quite a big blow to have it taken away from him so quickly. I guess you could consider it payback for all of the people that Rob was responsible for booting in the Amazon.
THE HIGHWAY COUNTDOWN
1. Kathy Vavrick-O'Brien - Kathy remains at the top once again. Until she fouls up or she is in danger, she'll continue to have this slot.
2. Tom Buchanan - Big Tom has managed to slide himself in a great position at Chapera. I'm beginning to think that the ol' goat farmer is one of the most underrated minds in the history of the game.
3. Lex van den Berghe - Lex is the core of Mogo Mogo. He's the unsung leader, yet he's someone everybody likes.
4. Rob Mariano - Boston Rob is the power player at Chapera, and right now, he has a whole lot of power.
5. Amber Brkich - She's right next to Boston Rob as he tries to get rid of the competition. Their island romance could be their downfall though.
6. Colby Donaldson - Surprisingly, the Texas cowboy is playing very low key. He's not an enemy or a hero, but he's doing pretty good.
7. Jenna Lewis - On a tribe that is on the verge of destruction, Jenna remains the glue with which the faltering team stays together.
8. Alicia Calaway - Alicia may have been Rob C.'s target, but she seems to have formed a friendship with Boston Rob.
9. Shii Ann Huang - Shii is the weakest member of Mogo Mogo, at least that's my opinion, and she seems to be sitting out at a lot of challenges.
10. Ethan Zohn - His target seems to have almost disappeared and Saboga needs him for challenges.
11. Rupert Boneham - His reward challenge stunt could still cost him, but he's slowly regaining ground.
12. Jerri Manthey - She still has a heavy reputation to overcome, but she is progressing nicely.
13. Richard Hatch - Despite his best efforts, I still believe that Rich will be leaving soon.
14. Sue Hawk - Sue is an outsider and she will remain here in the last slot until she suddenly morphs into Brian Heidik or something.
