Vanuatu

Survivor: Vanuatu dares 18 castaways to challange the elements of the volcanic islands, a Y shaped archipelago of over 80 islands, located in the South Pacific's Ring of Fire. Occasional and Small earthquakes occur frequently due to Vanuatu's nine active volcanoes. Dense forests and deep valleys, showcase the breathtaking beauty of the tropical landscape of the Vanuatu islands. Clouds shroud Vanuatu's towering, volcanic peaks that rise to nearly 6,000 feet above sea level, forest areas include giant banyan trees and kauri pines, and coconut trees and plantations are common throughout the archipelago. The islands of Vanuatu have over 150 plant species, and more than 1,000 plants are endemic to this region.

Over 115 different dialects are spoken within the islands by the Ni-Vanuatu peoples. Because of its colonial heritage, English and French are the official languages of Vanuatu inhabitants. Bislama, a pidgin language, based on English, is also spoken by island inhabitants. The weather of the Vanuatu can be fierce at times, with high temperatures and humidity in the 'hot' season, and drenching Tsunamis, and tropical storms in the 'wet' season.
